Tension 5. Using yellow
yarn, e-wrap cast-on over 21 stitches (L-11 to R-10). |

Knit 2 rows. |

Increase 1 stitch at
beginning of each row until there are 31 stitches. |

Bind off 8 stitches at the
beginning of the next 2 rows. |
|
5. |
Bring all needles to hold
position. Weave a piece of yarn over and under needles. This will
be used as a draw string to gather in for the neck. |

Knit 1 row. |

Increase 1 stitch at the
beginning of next 4 rows (19 stitches). |

Knit 1 row. |
|

Hand knit eyes on L-4 and
R-3. Put L-4 and R-3 into hold position. Set lever to hold
and knit 1 row. |

Release hold lever.
Knit 2 rows. |

Change to Tension 3.
Transfer every other stitch to adjacent needle and put empty needles to
out-of-work position. |

Knit one row and sew off. |

Sew back, top of tail and
head. Stuff head with Fiberfill. Tighten draw string to pull in
neck and secure. |

Beak: With right side
of head facing and using orange yarn, hang 3 stitches between eyes and 1
row down. Knit 1 row, decrease 1 stitch. Knit 1 row, decrease 1 stitch,
Knit 1 row. Break yarn and pull through remaining stitch. |

Insert plastic egg or chocolate egg in space beneath chick. |
